چکیده
Catfish species Pangasius nasutus, or locally known as Patin Buah is one of a popular aquaculture product in Malaysia. Probiotic strain an attractive alternative to conventional antibiotics managing diseases. can be source bacterial developing suitable probiotic useful rearing. This study highlights on the isolation LAB strains from selected tissues P. nasutus which are heart, stomach, and intestines. These were subjected morphological, biochemical, genotypic characterisations. Three different isolated fish tissues, H-Hn heart; S-Hn stomach; I-Sk intestine. Biochemical characterisation consistent with ribosomal rRNA sequencing, (acc. No. MW504962) highly similar (100%) Lactococcus lactis, both (MW504964) (MW504963) (99%) garvieae. All appeared non-spore forming, non-motile, Gram-positive coccus, catalase citrate negative, fermenting sugar. Unlike H-Hn, H-Sk able grow at 6.5% NaCl higher temperature (45°C). The antimicrobial properties assessed using agar disk diffusion assay against several indicator organisms (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus Vibrio parahaemolyticus). exhibited varying degree inhibitory organisms. Strain inhibited E. coli V. parahaemolyticus. Meanwhile, showed rather broad-spectrum inhibition. From other L. lactis strain, pathogenic garvieae could also found especially their gut tissues. presence commercial should raise some concern those who like consume this fish. has probiotics potential that commercially used diseases aquaculture.

Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and their probio-active cellular substances exert many beneficial effects in the gastrointestinal tract. LAB prevent adherence, establishment, and replication of several enteric mucosal pathogens through several antimicrobial mechanisms. LAB also release various enzymes into the intestinal lumen and exert potential synergistic effects on digestion and alleviate sympto...

The antifungal activity of isolated lactic acid bacteria (LAB) from a locally fermented cereal, "Kunu", was tested against toxigenic Aspergillus flavus. The liquid refreshment, "Kunu", was prepared under hygienic condition using millet, sorghum, and the combination of the two grains. The antifungal potential of isolated LAB against toxigenic A. flavus was carried out using both in vitro and in ...

متن کاملIsolation of lactic acid bacteria strain Staphylococcus piscifermentans from Malaysian traditional fermented shrimp cincaluk
Lactic acid bacteria is well known for it uses as starter culture in various fermented food, and it functions as a good natural antimicrobial agent. Cincaluk, a Malaysian fermented shrimp product commonly found in traditional dishes is commonly enriched with LAB. Out of 50 colonies from a local cincaluk, 7 strains were successfully isolated and shown to be positive in lactose utilization and ca...
